Yet another summer flashes before our eyes and I hope you all made use of the colour and prints that were presented in this years summer fashions but with summer and the false hope of there being any chance of a cloudless August obliterated let us move onwards to the glorious season that we find ourselves in; Autumn.
It really is a wonderful time of the year for natural beauty aswell as-up-to-the-minute stylish looks. Those of you with Autumn colouring will be glad to hear, some of the Autumnal palette is evident this season with the mix, of course of our winter favourites. All in all, a rustic but rich array for us to revel in for the the coming months.
As we all know climate plays a big factor in how we dress. Don’t lose yourself under a sky of grey clouds. Colour (and the right colours for you) has a huge impact on our well being and our daily outlook. Do not succumb to wearing dull or dark colours just because nature depicts it. Hang onto that feeling you had this summer when you dared to be light, bright or any other and felt fantastic. Inject a little bit of that into your daily wardrobe and stay the fashionista you are!
Some chosen colours this season; Purple is making a come back from last year, as is chartreuse green.
Metalics are in and we’ll be seeing more as the festive season starts to draw near.
Cobalt and midnight blues are key colours. The depth of the cobalt and the brightness in the midnight blue make them wonderful colour alternatives to the summer lights we’ve just put to the back of the wardrobe.
Do keep using your summer moisturizers. Products generally have a shelf life so if there is a smidge left in the cleansing jar or the moisturizing tube, use it before moving onto slightly richer products when the change in weather will start to happen in October. Do be aware of your skin type, if you have sensitive or oily skin a very rich moisturizer will be too heavy for your skin and can thus clog pores or cause breakouts. A quick check at your prefered counter or indeed come and see me to determine the best course of winter action for you..
The bootie, as seen previous years is this year taking the premier podium spot. There are some fabulous styles out there. The chic to the elaborate, The court to the skyscraper heel. A couple of things to consider when forking out a load for the season must have;
Your leg length and shape. The longer your legs and the slimmer your ankles the better you’ll wear this look. For those of us with slightly less leg length than Giselle Bunchen, chose a little more carefully. When you introduce colour breaks you break up the length in that part of your body so sticking with the same colour in a skirt, tight and boot will keep length but also look for the styles that have a low vamp, a high heel and where the top rim of the boot meets the smallest part of your ankle. Some skinny jeans with the same colour bootie will also have you soaring the style stakes.
One of the most prestigious style events to hit Dublin, ‘Style in the City’ takes place in Merrion Square this Thursday Sept 11th to the 14th. I’ll be there, please come and say Hello!
