Put the Spring back in your step this season
That lovely time of the year is upon us, where the heavy duty winter warmers can be packed away at the back of the wardrobe and the slightly lighter side can, thankfully, come to the fore.
The colours of choice for this Spring are fuschia, coral and yellow. Think in bright terms and don’t be afraid to use colour. Some brightening up is necessary after our prequel to autumn and winter last year, which for some strange reason still held it’s title of ‘summer’?! With not too much light being let into our lives naturally, why not take a more proactive approach and introduce it ourselves?
“Introducing yellow into your life, generates a feeling of warmth and joy.”
Faye Dunaway once made the beret the crowning accessory in ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ and now it has made a fashionable comeback, giving eveningwear a funkier feel and daywear, a cool, city chic look.
Take a look at your face shape, to know how best to wear your beret.
If you have a high forehead, or an oblong shape face, wear the beret pulled down on your forehead, sitting over the high point of your brow line.
If you have a small face, wear the beret at the back of your head, with the front of it starting a couple of inches back from your hairline.
Fasion trends can tend to sway in a particular direction, and in particular shapes. Fortunately, the hourglass silhouette is once again featured this season for those with defined waists. The wide belt is here to stay, as are the waisthigh trousers and 50’s style skirts.
Those of you who would prefer to keep your waist line under wraps, fear not, the shift dress and smock are still key looks and the much adorned skinny jeans will also be holding their own in the trend stakes.
Tip: If your legs are slightly shorter, wear your skinnies with a high heel, preferably the same colour as your jeans to give you the legs 11 look!
In the coming weeks I will be giving tips and advice on how to identify your body shape, so whether Twiggy, Marilyn or otherwise is to be your muse stay reading and log onto www.paulagoulding.com to have a question answered.

Dear Paula,
How can you find out what style hat to wear that looks best on you. My wife has a selection but some of them don't look as well as others and I'd like to pass on your advice...
Many thanks.
P.
Hi Paddy,
Thanks for your comment..
The style and shape of hat depends on face shape and body scale.
If your wife is petite and has a small face, a large hat will over power and vice versa.
If she has a narrow forehead, wearing the rim of the hat half way down her forehead can create width.
With her hair pulled back from her face, check where the length and width lies.
Hi,
Do you deal with mens fashion? I have put on a bit of weight with winter and find it harder to lose. I'm finding my usual slim fitting clothes are bursting at the buttons, but I don't want to revert to big clothes. Any idea how I can keep the slim look without having to lose weight or worry about having to buy new clothes every few months to look right?
Hi Mark,
Thank you for your query.
You should still be able to make your clothes work for you, in terms of shirts and jackets.
Wear a t-shirt inside your shirts (leaving your shirt open).
Also, wearing a different coloured tee to shirt, will create a 'central vertical', giving a slimmer look!
Apply this with your jackets also.
If your clothes start to get very tight around your arms and across your back it might be best to go up a size.
Paula
